Annual Undergraduate Student Exhibition

Organized by the VAV Gallery in conjunction with the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery

April 16 – May 15, 2004

Vernissage: Thursday, April 15, 2004 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm

Concordia University’s Annual Undergraduate Student Exhibition will be held at the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery from April 16 to May 15, 2004. An opening reception for Show Off will take place on Thursday, April 15 at 5:30 pm. This juried exhibition is part of a long-standing tradition at Concordia University that dates back more than twenty years. It provides undergraduate students from the Faculty of Fine Arts an opportunity to present their work in a professional gallery setting, and it introduces the general public to a generation of emerging contemporary artists.

The participants of Show Off demonstrate a broad spectrum of artistic concerns and their work reflects current issues in contemporary art. This exhibition includes a variety of media including painting, photography, installation, multimedia, sculpture, and drawing.

Show Off is organized by the Co-Directors of the VAV Gallery, Krista Wollen and Abbas Akhavan, and the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery. An undergraduate student committee was responsible for selecting the artworks in this exhibition. This year’s exhibition includes work by Arwa Abouon, Freida Abtan, Ivry Baumgarten, Sofi Brazzeal, J. Diamond, Michael Doerksen, Katie Dutton, Darren Ell, Sunshine Frere, Andrea Fryett, Manuela Jarry, Stacy Lundeen, Katie Lyle, Conan Masterson, Allison Moore, Antoine Morris, Melanie Morris, Lois Rowe, Shermine Sawalha, Ithamar Silver, Cody Stephenson, Robert Turenne, Oscar Varese, Elena Willis and Tatciana Woollam.

The exhibition is presented with the assistance of the Concordia Council on Student Life and the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Fine Arts.
